Shannon Woeller Signs Pro in Norway

Tukwila, Wash. – 2013 Sounders Women defender Shannon Woeller is going to Norway to play for IK Grand Bodø after signing her first professional contract. IK Grand Bodø play in Toppserien, which is the top division of Norwegian Women’s Soccer.

Upon signing with her new Norweigan club, Woeller said, “I am really excited and honored to have signed my first professional contract.  This is a great opportunity for me to play in a top league in Europe and I think I will learn so much from this experience.”

Woeller played in eight games for the club last season, netting one goal and one assist. She finished with the second most points among Sounders’ defenders.  The Canadian National Teamer was a rock in the back for the Sounders until she sustained a fracture in her ankle, ending her W-League season.

Head Coach and General Manager for the Sounders Women, Hubert Busby Jr., said, “Shannon has shown tremendous dedication and perseverance to overcome her injury last year. Her commitment to being the best every time she steps on the field will put her in good stead, as she embarks on a pro career. We are proud of her accomplishment.”

“The Sounders Women was a good step in my development,” Woeller said. “They have a professional environment and approach to running the club which helps prepare you for the next level.”

Season Tickets for the 2014 Sounders Women season are on sale on SoundersWomen.com for as low as $100. The Season Ticket Flex Pack includes twelve tickets, for the eleven home matches this season. The 2014 Season Ticket Flex Pack eliminates the risk of missing games.
